Parts of Cisco.com inaccessible for most of Monday

Company yet to determine cause of problem

Cisco late Monday confirmed that it is still experiencing problems with its Cisco.com Web site, portions of which have been inaccessible to customers and visitors for most of the day.

NetworkWorld readers began reporting problems accessing Cisco.com at around 11:15 a.m. ET Monday. At 1:35 p.m. Cisco issued this statement: "Earlier this morning, Cisco.com experienced some issues that impacted access to certain applications on the site. Currently, Cisco.com is accessible and we are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause and full impact. We thank our customers, partners and other site users for their patience."

Although visitors have been able to access Cisco.com, portions of the site remained inaccessible throughout the day, including Cisco Connection Online (CCO) Cisco's primary real-time support channel, and Service Contract Center (SCC), according to postings by NetworkWorld.com readers responding to this Network World Cisco Subnet blog item.

The problem still remained unresolved at 8:28 p.m., when a Cisco spokesperson, responding to a request from Network World for an update, commented: "No substantial update yet. We are still working the problem. Thank you for the updates from your readers."

Cisco.com suffered a near-3-hour outage in August which Cisco said was caused "by an accident during maintenance of a San Jose data center that resulted in a power outage in that facility."
