Ingram Micro's NSW state manager, Monty Cottrell, will retire from the distributor on December 31. He is being replaced by SurfControl's regional sales and marketing manager, David Lenz.
Cottrell joined Ingram in 2000 as a national account manager before taking over as NSW state manager in 2002. Ingram Micro solutions and commercial director, John Walters, said he had done a fantastic job leading the NSW team.
"Monty also helped us with the integration of Tech Pacific and Ingram, and pulled together the NSW sales teams, which were our largest," he said. "And we've seen significant growth in that business over the last period."
Lenz starts with Ingram from next week. His resume includes six years with HP, an Asia-Pacific sales and marketing role with Novell and most recently, vice-president of Asia-Pacific sales for SurfControl.
"David's strength is that he has broad IT channel experience and worked at a vendor level in channel roles," Walters said. "He has dealt with the majority of Ingram's larger customers in these roles and understands our go-to-market and what it is we're trying to achieve. He also knows how vendors can leverage a distributor and vice versa.
"He has had to drive volume sales, but also brings enterprise-level experience which ties in with our solutions push." Walters said Lenz's first point of focus was to meet with vendors and customers to get a feel for the business.
