Uptime Distribution has installed Siemens veteran Cameron Howell as regional manager, looking after its Victorian, South Australian and Tasmanian interests.
Howell will be growing the distributor's local channel from Melbourne. The role was not dissimilar to his former business development manager position at Siemens, Uptime managing director, Tony Geagea, said.
"Cameron comes from this industry and has all the right relationships," he said. "I love his energy. He's one of these guys who gets in there with the resellers and rolls his sleeves up and makes the most of things."
Geagea said that Howell's sales, channel management and business development skills had won him the role. He also had the kind of entrepreneurial spirit he looked for in his executives.
The Howell appointment comes alongside the addition of ten engineers to assist with Uptime's 200 channel partners.
The engineers would do on-site engineering, maintenance and around-the-clock customer service and support, Geagea said.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
