Brennan IT has kicked-off its vertical applications practice with a new deal to provide a customised operational control system for the Australian Fire Protection Industry. The name of the client cannot be disclosed but the deal is worth several hundred thousand dollars.
"We set out a strategy that said we would be building industry solutions for the mid-market and this is the first one," general manager of software development division, David Perks, said. "It represents good growth for my part of the Brennan business."
Brennan will design and build a software application to help improve the customer's operational management capabilities. The Web-based solution works with the latest 3G network and Internet technology and features field force automation through mobile devices, dashboard technology, and workflows to manage regular and ad hoc activities. It also has asset registers and skills profile information. It is available under a licensed model or as a fully hosted managed service.
"What this means for the fire protection industry is that they are able to comply with regulations a lot more easily and handle their own businesses with a lot less paperwork," Perks said.
The solution will be available in September with the first installation placed for that time.
Perks said its division was also focused on providing intranet and extranet solutions to the financial industry and was looking to supply solutions for the hotel and hospitality sector.
"We've also got some horizontal solutions that run across all verticals and the most successful one to date has been an intranet offering that we took to the market about four months ago," he said.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
