Comlinx joins Avaya's partner stable

Brisbane integrator brought on to head up Avaya's services push in Queensland

Avaya has struck up a new partnership with Brisbane-based systems integrator, Comlinx, to service the Queensland market.

Comlinx director, Scott Smith, claimed there was a real need for an end-to-end solutions approach to communications locally.

"We had to present a very strong business plan and case for wanting what we were attempting to do in this market," he said. "We had to ensure we had a differentiated offer that was of significant value to Avaya outside of where they can currently access those skills."

Comlinx is now one of five Avaya partners, sitting alongside NSC, GlobalConnect, Telstra and IBM. It will start as a silver business partner. Smith said it intended to invest further and move up the accreditation ranks.

The integrator will have access to Avaya's enterprise telephony suite including IP telephony, contact centre solutions, speech recognition technology, mobility and applications. Smith said it currently had 10 customers on its books from the large enterprise and government space.

"We are helping to grow the technology requirements within those customers by not just selling technology, but ensuring their key return on investment," he said. "We want a smaller set of customers that we can provide end-to-end solutions to, rather than trying to be everything to everybody."

Avaya channel director, Andy Hurt, said Comlinx had been recruited to focus on servicing Queensland customers.

"We look for business partners that offer a unique portfolio," he said. "Comlinx specialises in the converged space and is able to deliver creative solutions to both public and private sectors in Queensland."
