Toshiba appoints ironman to lead channel

New channel manager looks to better tier two relations

Toshiba has filled the big shoes left by the death of industry veteran and national channel sales manager, Angus Roberts, with former Toshiba NZ country manager, Callum Eade.

Eade, who has been involved with Toshiba for the past four years, stepped away from the lead role in NZ in October to indulge his passion for triathlons.

Angus Roberts passed away in early November.

During the sporting sabbatical, Eade had discussed taking on the local channel role with Toshiba Information Systems Division (ISD) general manager, Mark Whittard.

"Angus was a mentor of mine and, in his absence, the workload was taken up by Mark," he said. "So it will be good to step into the role, lighten that load and work with a team that is very passionate about the products."

In the role, Eade will be responsible for the local channel business, managing its national channel sales team and sales centre, and working with corporate sales teams which service Toshiba's business-to-business clients. Eade will also work its new Toshiba NZ country manager, Gary Wicks, to develop consistent channel strategies between the two countries. He said one key focus would be to increase the importance of tier two resellers.

"I see a real opportunity to work with the tier two sector in Australia, especially given the cosmopolitan nature of the market to align with tier two resellers," he said. "Before that, I do want to walk the streets a bit because I'm conscious that I've been in NZ, so I need to focus on understanding all the idiosyncrasies of the channel market here."

Liana Nio has also signed on with Toshiba as a dedicated channel marketing manager.

Eade said he was looking forward to working with her on specific channel marketing activities.
