S Central snaps up AGM IT

Melbourne-based services provider, S Central, has acquired NSW integrator, AGM IT, as part of plans to expand its national presence.

AGM general manager, Steven Zsigoszki, will step into the NSW general manager's role, reporting to S Central managing director, Peter Mavridis. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

Zsigoszki said both businesses had been looking for a way to grow and improve market penetration in an attempt to win large, national projects. In a statement issued last week, he said the two shared a vision of building the best IT services company in Australia.

"It's a very good fit - they needed services in NSW, and we needed services in Victoria," he said.

While the two companies shared some skill sets, Mavridis said the deal gave it access to complementary technologies, as well as new vendor relationships with Citrix and Dell.

"One area we haven't had skills in is the storage and virtualisation business. We see big opportunities for us in that market, but in order to deliver we needed to have a skilled team behind us," he said.

S Central would also leverage AGM's on-demand, software-as-a-service packages to offer fully outsourced solutions to its customers nationally, Mavridis said.

Combined, the two companies have 80 staff. Zsigoszki said all employees would be retained. The integration process is expected to take at least 12 months.

"Both companies are growing very fast. We have had 30-40 per cent growth every year," he said.
