3D Networks at the double

Triple play integrator, 3D Networks, has released details of two recent customer wins involving Cisco kit, including a $1.1 million contact centre installation at ISP, Dodo Australia.

3D CEO, Chris Luxford, said it had beaten Victoria's Informatel to the punch with Dodo, implementing a system combining voice, data and other services on a single IP platform.

Using the Cisco kit, 3D implemented a communications system based on Cisco Call Manager 4.1, Unified Contact Centre 7.0, Cisco Agent Desktop, an IP-based IVR system, and 2800 series Integrated Services Routers across Dodo's two main sites - its head office in Melbourne and contact centre in Moorabbin.

"What really helped us across the line with Dodo was that we were able to show from a business process perspective how it could improve the business and customer experience," he said. "We could show it to Dodo both technically and mathematically."

According to the company, Dodo's growth "outpaced" the capability of its PABX-based phone system, which "struggled" under the load of a growing customer base.

Meanwhile, 3D will be working at office products and business supplies business, Corporate Express, for the next 12-18 months as it rolls out an upgrade to its Cisco Unified Communications installation across multiple locations across Australia.

Financial details have not been disclosed but Luxford said 3D beat incumbent provider IBM to the punch.

"Corporate Express was impressed with our managed services and recognised we could keep its network up to date," he said. "It looked for some very strong assurances from the vendor that we could do everything we said we'd do."

As well as hardware and software upgrades, 3D will carry out extensive consultation to update Corporate Express business processes and optimise the way calls are flowed across the network.

Luxford suggested the size difference between 3D Networks and IBM could be one reason for the win.

"Our size, compared to IBM, ensures that Corporate Express will always get a lot of attention and focus from us," he said.
