NetOpt strengthens security stable

Howard Dahdah  12 September, 2006 11:14:13

Queensland-based IT company, Network Optimiser Solutions (NetOpt), has struck two vendor partnerships aimed at boosting its security portfolio.

The company has become the sole Australian distributor for endpoint security vendor, Safend. The agreement comes after six months of evaluation of products and discussions.

NetOpt has also signed on as the local face for US security software player, Migo Software.

NetOpt business development manager, Rick Nand, said the Migo products, which addressed portability, would complement the Safend range. It would initially sell licences for the software to customers directly via electronic download. Those buying multiple copies would be entitled to a volume discount, he said.

Nand hoped to sell a packaged version of the Migo software via the channel further down the track.

Under the Safened deal, NetOpt will be looking at recruiting resellers that focus on security solutions for SME and enterprises. Safend Protector, the vendor's most recent release, controls data access from the physical and wireless ports of all enterprise endpoints such as USB, WiFi or Bluetooth.

Nand said NetOpt evaluated a number of end point security solutions before deciding to proceed with Safend.

"Safend's solution fits very well with our strategy in addressing the internal security threat and data leakages faced by many organisations," he said. "Safend was also looking at companies that specialised in the end point security services, which NetOpt did. Our strategy and corporate goals are also closely aligned with Safend's."

Nand said it would deliver a total end point security solution bundling solutions and services based on Safend and Migo range.
