NZ's Argent picks up Aussie firm

NZ-based telecommunications software developer and integration specialist, Argent Networks, has extended its international reach with the purchase of Australian outfit, Integration Management (IM).

Although Argent already has clients in the Australasian market, the acquisition of IM gives the company an immediate footprint into other global markets.

Argent CEO, Chris Jones, said the deal meant his company could continue to grow in key global telecommunications markets, in particular Asia-Pacific and the US.

IM's products were complementary to Argent's billing and CRM solutions, he said.

"The acquisition was an ideal fit for us. I'm sure it will assist in growing Argent's overall financial and global market position as a leading supplier of operational support systems and billing solutions to telco suppliers everywhere," he said.

In 2004 Argent scored $NZ8 million in venture capital funding to expand its operations in the Middle East and Africa and has been involved in deployments in the post-war reconstructions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Jones said Argent was growing rapidly in all its markets and wanted to make further acquisitions to accelerate penetration into other segments.
