Wizz wireless scours for partners

Last-mile wireless access provider, Wizz Communications, is on the hunt for telcos and ISPs servicing SMB, SME and corporate users.
Its wireless broadband services are currently available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane through a small number of partners including People Telecom and destra Business.
Adding more partners would unearth new opportunities among businesses that couldn't access DSL or required a faster service, Wizz director, Andrew Maclaren, said.
"We are looking to expand presence in the three states we already operate in through an increased number of partners," he said. "We also hope to provide lead generation for those partners."
The Wizz service starts at speeds of 10Mbps but can deliver up to 100Mbps access via its own $2 million network.
Maclaren said the service was sold 100 per cent through its partners, although Wizz still worked heavily on new business opportunities. Its engineers, for example, qualify business suitability for its wireless broadband product and also carry out installation before leaving day-to-day account operation to a partner.
destra Business recently used the service to score a three-year contract with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
