AMD Australia will drop its top local job for a new business development role as part of a major restructure of its management team.
In early September, ARN reported exclusively that its country manager, John Robinson, had left the company. An AMD spokesperson said there were no plans to replace him. Instead, AMD Australia would be managed from Singapore by sales and marketing director for South Asia, Bryan Lowe.
Lowe will kick-start a new business strategy for the vendor's local operations through several new staff appointments. This would include appointing a business development manager to sit at the top of its Australian management chain, the spokesperson said.
A decision on who will take the position is expected soon.
Several OEM and distribution sales staff would also be recruited, the spokesperson said.
AMD will provide full details on the appointments and restructure changes once complete.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
