New ExpressApps emerges in server-based IT

The owners of thin-client networks specialist, Dunson, and application and infrastructure service provider, ExpressApps.com, have combined their operating profiles under a new trading entity, ExpressApps Pty Ltd. The move is designed to reposition and combine the companies’ offerings.

Previously, ExpressApps operated as a subsidiary of the Dunson group of companies, Dunson Pty Ltd.

“As we moved forward, it no longer really made sense to maintain two separate corporate entities,” ExpressApps managing director, Mark Harrigan, said. “Consider the overheads, for one.”

The ExpressApps brand made more sense in the market today, he said.

“Dunson began many years ago, starting out as a programmable logic controller (PLC),” Harrigan said. “This is back before working computers branched out beyond accounting.”

He said that ExpressApps better expressed where the company was going now.

The company would continue to be built around the design, implementation, management and maintenance of IT infrastructure delivered through systems integration, hosting and application service providers (ASP) activities.

“Our focus is now on making sure that the application performance is what it needs to be,” he said.

ExpressApps began trading on April 1. The company plans to continue delivering its services through partners such as Citrix and Microsoft.

“The key to making this work is building and maintaining relationships with smart partners who work in application functionality,” Harrigan said.

Together with strong partnerships and the company’s experience in application performance, Harrigan said vendors and customers alike would benefit from the restructure.

“We’re almost a service utility — we make sure the IT is there and working,” he said.

A new ExpressApps website (www.expressapps.com.au) will also be launched this month.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
